Formal or Creative Baby Announcements

With a formal announcement, the wording in the announcement is generally spelled out completely. For instance, a date would appear as September 20, 2011 or 20 September 2011 instead of 9.20.2011 or 9/20/2011. The second example would most likely be used for a creative style of baby announcement wording.

Formal wording styles generally include the parents’ full names under the birth announcement photo, while creative announcements may only include the first names of both parents.

A formal announcement generally begins with the parents introducing the new infant. Creating wording may also begin this way, or another family member may be chosen to introduce the child. For instance, a creative announcement may begin by stating that an older sibling welcomes a new brother or sister into the family.
With a creative wording style, a child’s nickname may be placed under his full name to allow family and friends to know that the baby will be called by a different name. In general, formal styles only include the full formal name of the infant.

Common Mistakes Parents Make With Personalized Birth Announcements

Here are some of the more common mistakes that parents make when they are sending out birth announcements.

The Spelling- If you ordered your personalized birth announcements online, chances are you had to review a proof(s). While this probably saved you time and effort, you still need to make sure that everything was done correctly. You may have misspelled your child’s name in your hurry to order the announcements or the birth weight could have been misinterpreted. Check over the announcements before you send them out to avoid a potentially embarrassing error and having to reprint the entire order! More importantly, check your proof carefully before approving it!

The Photo- While you may believe that the camera loves your little one, your birth announcement photo may tell a different story. Check to see if the photo came out well, isn’t blurry, is in focus, and doesn’t have red eye.

The List- Before sending out your unique baby announcements, take a look at your list of addresses again.

Speaking of calendars and gifts and planning, I saw some interesting baby announcements and baby shower cards that just came out recently. For those planning a new family or who have a child on the way, these announcements are down right inexpensive and yet they are so beautiful and designed so well. The neat thing is the designs reach the front and back of the card which really makes the card stand out like no other.

Of course these cards can accommodate your photos as well and I believe that you can pretty much work with one of their designers and add photos to the cards, front or back. So it works as photo baby announcements also. Believe it or not, it’s the same the same price.

Another nice quality they provide is you get to speak and work with designers all the time if you need any help . There is no web to print without any kind of proofing or waiting hours for someone to respond to your email. If something looks weird or there is a typo they will call and try to correct it. I wish everyone was that attentive and mindful before products were shipped.

Isn’t that great. I’ll bet we have some happy shoppers after seeing these cheap baby announcements! What a deal, now I am going to get back to my Christmas shopping list!

I know online there are many printers like Snapfish and Tiny Prints that you might look at initially for those types of cards but there are also smaller companies that are up and coming with the same inexpensive cards but they offer a better design aesthetic, higher quality, and better customer service. These are the types of companies I would initially look at for things like baby shower invitations and birth announcements. I know Page Stationery is branching out a bit from their beautiful letterpress invitations and applying their wonderful design to a myriad of nicely designed birth announcements and baby shower cards and as well as holiday photo cards.

Their design is so simple and elegant that you can’t go wrong. The pricing for these new cards is also much more reasonable than letterpress pricing. Very comparable to that of other leading digital printing companies so it is definitely worth considering if you are on a tight budget.

Remember though, there is a big difference in what you get from letterpress printing and digital printing. It might sound like a better price but there are big differences. The quality of both cards will be high regardless. For starters, the type of paper used in the letterpress process is much thicker and usually made of 100% cotton. This type of paper just wonít go through digital presses. Why is it so thick? It is thicker like this in order to highlight the deep texture that is created when the letterpress plate is pressed into the paper. It is definitely a unique look that many folks are very fond of, so much so that they never order anything else.

With letterpress printing the ink has to done just right as well. There is no computer adjusting and monitoring the output. This is all performed by a well trained and enthusiastic craftsman who is constantly monitoring ink levels and impression as he or she prints. Digital printing is completely automated but still makes excellent thank you notes.

With digital printing the papers stocks are typically more common brands but can be a nice cover stock, in some cases up to 130 pounds. I don’t think many consumers at this price point are really concerned about the paper thickness like they might be for a letterpress piece. But there are still some nice papers in this price point and even some eco friendly.

What digital also provides is a broader medium for creativity. It allows for design not only on the front but also on the back, or duplex printing. This allows designers freedom with out having to worry about how the printing or ink may look like you would with a letterpress piece. You can do strips, polka dots you name it and it will look great and the cost is not affected that much. With a letterpress piece there would be a charge for each color pass through the press. Each color represents a different pass through the press. So it becomes rather expensive to print a simple announcement like this for only 50 or 100 pieces.
Printing on the back of the letterpress card the printer has to careful not to apply to much pressure as to offset the printing already done on the front. Duplex printing for letterpress is simply turning the paper over and printing on the back.

In the end it really is up to the user and what they want in terms of a look and feel for their personal stationery or even for baby stationery. They may have to wait a bit longer to get them letterpress printed rather than digital. Regardless, each process is beautiful if they are designed well and produced with high quality standards. Digital is just a more affordable option.

The great thing about this new line of stationary is that it is letterpress printed but very inexpensive when compared to offset or digital printing. So it comes out to be about $1 per card/envelope. That’s a Deal!

So there are are six options at the moment for these new designs. The first are teddy bear cards that are just the funnest and cutest. My little girl would love these cards. Every little girl or boy would like a box of these little cards. They are great for their first birthday parties to write thank you notes and to write grandmothers and grandfathers to thank them for their Birthday or Christmas presents. You can also use them for new born gifts or baby shower gifts as thank yous.

For moms it could be the kids stationary cards for the little ones and then for yourself you could get a nice set of flower cards for yourself, if you like flowers. These boxed floral sets are really cute as well. I’m sure you will like them. Here are a few few pictures.

And there is a fine line between one who stops thinking about being a patriot and begins acting like a patriot. This can be a radical juncture for many people. But I think for most people this juncture is reached when they have had enough and they’ve heard enough and they decide that they want to display their patriotism in some form or fashion. Now you see many people doing just this and the in forms of people attending and becoming interested in Tea Parties all around the country. The become very interested in other parties like the Libertarian party. I think most people are just fed up with the democrats and fed up with the republicans because we’ve seen all the tricks these politicians play over the course of the year’s and it’s nothing new. Eric Cantor is the same old same old politician that he was 10 years ago. This type of thinking is what got us in this God awful mess we’re in right now.

So besides going out your local high school and supporting your local Tea Party what are some other ways we can be patriotic? Will here’s one, you can simply display your patriotism in some simple way, like a picture and this helps form of collective patriotism among everybody you who sees theses. For instance if he does find a patriotic picture, and if if everybody does the same, in the end you will know there is a stronger sense of collective patriotism and the feeling grows and grows. I particularly like this patriotic picture that I saw of the star spangled banner. Not only is it a beautiful print, but I’m not ashamed to keep it in my office or hanging in my home and I really says a lot about what I believe is the right direction for this country maybe you should take a look at displaying this also.

In 1968 Burke Johnson set out with an idea inspired by afternoon on the front porch watching a thunderstorm, to create a story book for his children, ages of three and five at the time. The work that emerged from his imagination was originally called “Randy Rain”. After months of work and illustration this original book was finished and he read it to his children who loved it. Inspired he allowed some other kindergarten classes to read the book and it was a success with the children. Deciding to submit the work to publishers who subsequently turned him down at every corner was enough to stop further efforts to publish the book and Mr. Johnson was offered another job thus moving his family. The original work was lost during the move only rough drafts and sketches survive today.

Now the grandchildren are part of the Johnson family, Randy Rain became a topic of discussion and son Taylor Johnson was committed to reviving the imaginative book that he had read as a child so his children could read it.
